„Liszt. Satie. Weill. Paris“
Franz and Kurt meet at Erik's salon
Piano and Host: Steffen Schleiermacher
Certain words excite the imagination in the most beautiful way. One wonderful example is „salon“, the French salon of course, which the composers and writers of the 19th century attended to present their newest works, frequently met by emotional outbursts of an exuberant nature. And – at least this is the general perception – such salons were generally established by wealthy, charming and rather interesting women. It can only be deeply regretted that our journey back in time to the Paris of the early 20th century does not offer an evening at one of these legendary salons.
We also hope you will forgive us that the evening's host is not one of those attractive women, but rather the versatile Steffen Schleiermacher. He invites us to a soirée in the salon of Erik Satie, at which Franz Liszt and Kurt Weill are also expected to attend. All of these composers had a unique and decisive impact on the development of classical music. But is it possible that they knew each other, or even met somewhere, sometime? The real adventure takes place in our heads – and answers can perhaps be found at the salon of Erik Satie.
