The singer and actress Winnie Böwe is a familiar face to movie and music fans  from her many appearances on the big screen and in television series (Dr. Kleist, Berlin-Berlin, 12 heißt – Ich liebe dich, Die Frau vom Checkpoint Charlie). Originally from the city of Halle, she also enjoys a highly successful stage career, having performed at such prestigious theatres as Berlin’s Maxim Gorki Theater, the Berlin Ensemble, Munich’s Residenztheater and Dresden’s Staatsschauspiel.

Together with Ensemble Piaccordia, Winnie Böwe will present her musical-literary Programme, combining seldom heard selections from Bertolt Brecht’s stage works with songs by Eisler and Weill. The show, which over the years has developed into something of a cult at the Kurt Weill Festival, deliberately dispenses with the standard hits from the Threepenny Opera, under the motto “leave those for the others”. All the arrangements have been devised by ensemble member Gerhard A. Schiewe, creating the unique Piaccordia sound – an eclectic blend of different instruments. This, together with the ensembles exuberant performing style, leaves audiences spellbound.
