She has already made a number of sensational appearances at the Kurt Weill Festival. For almost three decades, Ute Lemper has been thrilling audiences with her artistic versatility in musicals, at concerts around the world, on numerous albums or in her film roles. Since the start of her career she has been a successful, and enthusiastic, interpreter of Weill’s music. Now Ute Lemper is returning to Kurt Weill’s hometown as Artist-in-Residence to celebrate the genius from Dessau along with another brilliant musician from Weill’s second home, the USA, namely George Gershwin.
Markus L. Frank and the Anhaltische Philharmonic Orchestra will present Weill’s rarely heard work The Silbersee Suite alongside Gershwin’s international smash hit musical An American in Paris. In addition to great Weill songs such as Youkali or Surabaya Johnny, Ute Lemper will perform many other immortal melodies by Gershwin such as I Got Rhythm as well as hits by the American songwriter Burt Bacharach.
The Artist-in-Residence will be presented by
