Anhaltische Philharmonic Orchestra Dessau
On this Sunday morning, the Anhaltische Philharmonic Orchestra and its music director Markus L. Frank invite festivalgoers to attend an entertaining kids' and family concert all about the railway. The starting and finishing point of this fun musical journey moderated by Günther Weissenborn is – where else? – the Deutsche Bahn railway works in Dessau. Commissioned in 1929, the works have been extensively renovated and expanded to create what is today Europe's most modern locomotive test centre.
The ideal location, therefore, to launch a musical trip across the European continent. Some important stops along the way will be Moscow, Vienna and Paris, represented by the compositions of Alexander Mosolov, Johann Strauss (junior) or Gioachino Rossini, while Günther Weißenborn will relate some delightful stories about rail travel. There is sure to be bags of fun for young and old, while the audience will also have the chance to take active part in the proceedings.
After the concert of around one hour, you have the opportunity to visit the railway works.
